Lisa Behrman is a reading & Literacy specialist whose primary goal is to help students struggling with a language based learning disability succeed. Lisa earned a Dual Masters in Elementary Education and Reading and Literacy from Bank Street College of Education in 2005. Lisa taught 1st and 2nd grade in the New York City public school system before starting a private tutoring practice first in New York City and then in Westchester County. Her teaching experience gave her insight into what the reading and writing curriculums require of our children. This has helped her develop and refine a repertoire of programs to help children.

In addition, Lisa Behrman has assisted in the development of an Executive Functioning and Study Skills program. This program builds a tool box of techniques that improve the ability to be successful in all academic areas.

Lisa’s priority is to create a learning environment that is supportive and nurturing. Lisa believes in a multisensory approach to teaching reading and executive functioning skills and often uses evidence-based methods and strategies. But she also recognizes that there is no set method that works for every student. It is essential to get to know and understand each student’s needs and learning styles in order to develop an individualized plan. This targeted intervention is customized to help children make progress and achieve success.
