Our Founder
Lisa Behrman is a Reading & Literacy Specialist and Executive Functioning Specialist whose primary goal is to help students struggling with language-based learning disabilities. Lisa earned a dual Masters in Elementary Education and Reading & Literacy from Bank Street College of Education in 2005. In addition to having 3 young children of her own in the public-school system, Lisa taught 1st and 2nd grade in New York City and understands school systems intimately and how to adapt a curriculum to best meet the needs of her students. Our Approach
At Ladder 2 Success we work with students of all ages with diverse learning styles to help them develop the critical building blocks that every student must master to achieve his/her potential: reading, writing, mathematics and executive function. Our approach to learning caters to a wide range of learners with a variety of needs: the elementary school student struggling with decoding, comprehension and/or math fact fluency; the middle school student challenged by the conventions of writing, application of math concepts and the executive functioning skill needed for the development of higher level thinking; or the overwhelmed high school student needing study skills and test taking strategies.
Our Results
Every child learns differently and needs a customized approach in order to learn effectively. By developing individualized instructional plans that support their distinct learning styles, we ensure that each child achieves success. We draw from a variety of programs, methodologies, and evidence-based practices and adjust each child’s program as needs change. In our sessions with students, classroom work is integrated and can be used to further conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. In order to serve as a resource to both students and parents, we are constantly evolving to stay on the cutting-edge of educational research, technology, and news.
Services We Offer
Executive Functioning
Our program in organization and study strategies (such as time management, organization of materials and test taking strategies) builds a tool box of techniques for applied learning that improve a child’s ability to be successful both in and out of school.
Reading Remediation
By using research-based, multi-sensory methodologies to target reading instruction, we can support your child’s reading development. Applying a balanced literacy approach we ensure that all components of literacy from early literacy skills to decoding to fluency and comprehension are being met in order to develop confident, life-long readers.
Writing Strategy
We provide students with the tools to discover the joy of writing and show them how to use it across content, genre, form, and function. Our writing instruction ranges from learning to write simple sentences to more complex paragraphs to comprehensive reports.

No matter what stage of development your child is at, understanding the necessary skills they need to assimilate information can be overwhelming. We can support your desire to participate in your child’s education by teaching you developmentally appropriate techniques to enhance their educational growth, helping to create a positive work environment and nurture confidence and success.
